Dr. Shelby Suzuki earned her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Hawaii before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences. Following veterinary school, she completed a small animal rotating internship at MedVet Chicago, where she further developed her clinical skills and discovered a passion for veterinary dermatology.
Although Dr. Suzuki has long been interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine, her enthusiasm for dermatology grew through her love of cytology and the diagnostic challenges that dermatologic cases often present. She enjoys working through complex medical cases and values the opportunity to improve both the comfort and quality of life of her patients. In addition to dermatology, she maintains a strong interest in wildlife, zoological, and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Suzuki's passion for veterinary medicine began at a young age through volunteering with the local humane society. These early experiences fostered her commitment to animal welfare and inspired her pursuit of a career dedicated to compassionate patient care. She finds the most rewarding part of her profession to be building meaningful relationships with clients while helping them care for the pets they love. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Suzuki enjoys attending Chicago Cubs games with her boyfriend, spending time with family and friends, and bowling. |
